About

 photo_2

I began my journey into the world of photography aged 15 when I received a camera from my father for Christmas. I received a Pentax ME Super 35mm film camera. I was hooked but drifted away from photography after leaving school. I returned to photography in 1993 after being uninspired by having a ‘normal’ job. Im self taught and had an attitude of ‘just do it’ regardless of my lack of confidence I pushed myself to where I am today. Over my career Ive shot most genres of photography from sport to documentary, portraits, weddings, travel, news, magazine and conflict.

I’ve always preferred the black and white image because this is how I prefer to see. However colour has played a large part in my editorial and commercial work and it still has its place. Without doubt my image creation is an extension of my personality, emotional state, creative taste and vision that in turn communicates what I cannot speak. I’m often a passer by.. the scene will just ‘speak to me’.

Over the years Ive produced several long term stories ranging from 2 to 10 years. Many stories will have taken from a few days to just a few weeks.

Published internationally including National Geographic Traveller, Vogue (Brazil), The Times, The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, The Observer, The Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, The Independent, The Independent On Sunday, Wales On Sunday, The Guardian, El Pais, Stern, Paris Match, The Face, Hello, Esquire, GQ, F1 Racing, Four Four Two, Stern, Le Figaro, The British Journal of Photography, Practical Photography etc. Also been commissioned to produce images for 40 books and has travelled extensively on assignments throughout Europe, Asia and North America.

Published book (More Than Ninety Minutes 1997) received critical acclaim from both the sporting and photographic press.

I offer bespoke one to one photo mentoring. Are you an early career photographer, aspiring to become a photographer or just want to improve? Ive shot most types of camera from 35mm film to large format 5×4 inches and a range of digital cameras from Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Leica and Sigma.
